ONE GOD

ONE GOD

Jehovah and Jesus are One God

The NWT says that Jehovah and Jesus are "One God"

Isa 45:5 "I am Jehovah, and there is no one else. With the exception of me there is no God"

Isa 9:6 "For there has been a child born to us, there has been a son given to us, and the princely rule will come to be upon his shoulder. And his name will becalled Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Father for Eternity, Prince of Peace."

1 Cor 8:5-6 "For even though there are those who are called ‘gods’, whether in heaven or on earth, just as there are many ‘gods’ and many ‘lords’, there is actually to us one God the Father, out of whom all things are, and we for him, and there is one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things are, and we through him."

John 20:28 "In answer Thomas said to him (Jesus): ‘My Master and my God!’ "

Isaiah’s prophecy of Christ’s birth shows that one of his names will be Mighty God.

The above verses come from the translation used by the Jehovah's witnesses, a translation they claim to be correct yet we can clearly see the contradiction here between the teaching of the Society and the bible it professes to be accurate.

If you are a Jehovah's witness let me ask you this question.

How many gods are there?

One you say... ok... then let's look at one of the most famously mistranslated verses in the NWT and what it teaches about the belief of One God.

John 1:1-3 In [the] beginning the Word was, and the Word was with God, and the Word was a god. This one was in [the] beginning with God. All things came into existence through him, and apart from him not even one thing came into existence.

The addition of the 'a' in the first verse and a small g for the word god indicates that there must be more then one god in the beginning. But don't you profess that in the beginning there was only One God Jehovah? and that Jesus was created later? It's impossible to interpret this verse to fit the teachings of the Society. The only correct way to teach it is as it is found in the King James Version, God's word preserved for today and always.

John 1:1-3 (KJV) In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
